Refund & Cancellation policy

This policy explains when payments for Document eSign, a product of Angular Minds Private Limited, are and are not refundable, how to cancel a subscription, and what happens to your access and data afterwards. It is part of our Terms of Service.
We want you to be sure before you pay, so every new workspace starts on Business free for 14 days with no credit card. Because you can try the Service before paying anything, our paid subscriptions are generally non-refundable. If something has genuinely gone wrong, contact us and we will make it right in good faith.
1. Try before you pay
Every new workspace starts on Business, free for 14 days, with no credit card required. You are not charged during the trial, so there is nothing to refund for it. If you do not pick a paid plan, your workspace simply continues on the Free plan when the 14 days are up - nothing is deleted. The trial is the right time to confirm the Service works for you.
2. Monthly plans
You can cancel a monthly plan at any time. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and then your workspace moves to the Free plan. We do not provide partial or pro-rated refunds for the remainder of a billing period.
3. Annual plans
Annual plans are paid up front for the year. They are non-refundable mid-term. If you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the paid year and does not renew. We do not refund the unused portion of an annual term.
4. Adding seats or upgrading
When you add seats or upgrade mid-cycle, you are charged a prorated amount for the rest of the current period. When you remove seats or downgrade, any credit is applied to your account against future charges rather than refunded. These prorations are handled automatically by our payment processor.
5. When we do refund
We will review a refund in good faith in cases such as:
- a genuine billing error or duplicate charge by us;
- a charge after a timely cancellation that should not have been billed; or
- a substantial Service failure that we could not resolve in a reasonable time.
If one of these applies, email support@documentesign.com within 30 days of the charge with your account details and what happened. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method. Refunds are at our reasonable discretion and do not set a precedent for future requests.
6. What is not refundable
- Fees for a billing period you have already started, simply because you stopped using the Service or forgot to cancel.
- The unused portion of an annual term after cancellation.
- Charges where the workspace was suspended or blocked for breaching our Terms of Service.
7. Taxes
Any taxes collected on a refunded charge are handled according to applicable tax rules.
8. How to cancel
A workspace admin can cancel any time from Settings > Billing in the app. There is no cancellation fee and you do not need to contact us, though we are happy to help at support@documentesign.com.
When you cancel, we may ask a short optional question about why you are leaving. That helps us improve and is never a barrier to cancelling.
9. What happens to your subscription
Cancelling sets your subscription to end at the close of your current billing period. Until then, nothing changes: you keep full access to your paid plan and you will not be charged again. At the end of the period, the subscription ends and your workspace moves to the Free plan.
If you change your mind before the period ends, you can reactivate from the billing page and your subscription continues as normal.
You can also switch plans instead of cancelling. Switching plans keeps your subscription active and removes any pending cancellation.
10. What happens to your data when you move to Free
We do not delete your data the moment you downgrade. We use a grandfather approach so you do not lose work:
- Nothing is deleted automatically on downgrade. Members, templates, and documents that exceed Free plan limits stay in place and keep working.
- We warn the admins. Admins see a notice in the app, and we send up to three reminder emails over the following 30 days describing what currently exceeds the Free plan, so there are no surprises.
- Documents are protected during this period. Your documents from the paid period are not swept away while you are in the grace window.
- Members over the Free limit keep access. You simply cannot invite new members, or replace someone who leaves, until you are within the Free limit or you upgrade again.
- Templates over the Free limit stay usable. The Free template limit counts all of your templates, including archived ones, so to create new templates beyond the limit you would upgrade again.
Re-subscribing at any time restores your full plan limits immediately.
11. What happens to your documents
Your documents stay in your account. Document eSign does not auto-delete documents on any plan and there is no plan-based retention window. Moving from a paid plan back to Free never deletes your documents - completed, cancelled, expired, and declined documents all stay put, and you keep full access to them.
A document is removed only when you delete it yourself. Deleting it sends it to the trash, where it stays recoverable until you permanently delete it. If you need help retrieving a document, contact support@documentesign.com.
12. Closing your account entirely
If you want your workspace and personal data deleted rather than moved to Free, email privacy@documentesign.com from the account email and we will process the deletion in line with our privacy policy. Some records (for example invoices and limited records needed to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes) are retained for as long as the law requires. If you are a signer who received a document, the organization that sent it controls that document; contact them, and we will assist where we can.
13. Cancellation and refunds are separate
Cancelling stops future charges; it does not by itself refund the current period. See the refund sections above for when a charge is refundable.
14. Changes and statutory rights
We may update this policy from time to time; the effective date shows the latest version. Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights you may have under the consumer law that applies to you.
