Ranges, and how to think about them
Every comma-separated term becomes part of the output. Typing 1-4 gives you one PDF holding pages 1 through 4. Typing 1-4, 9, 12-15 still gives you one PDF, now with three chunks stitched together in that order. An open-ended range works too: 8- means "page 8 to the end", handy when you don't remember how long the document is.
A real example: a 40-page lease packet where the lease is pages 1-12, the inventory is 13-19, and everything after is reference material nobody signs. Split 1-12 to get a clean lease you can send for signature; split 13-19 for the inventory. Two runs, two tidy files, original untouched.
Split, extract, or delete?
These three overlap and people regularly grab the wrong one. The short version: split when you want to break a document into parts. Use extract when you want a few specific pages out and don't care about the rest. Use delete when the document is right except for a few pages that need to go. Same engine underneath - the difference is which pages you end up holding.

How do page ranges work exactly?
Like a print dialog. 1-3, 5, 8-10 produces one PDF containing those pages in that order. 8- means page 8 to the end. Switch modes if you want every page as its own file instead.
How big a PDF can I split?
A few hundred pages is routine on a desktop. Since there's no upload, there's no upload limit - your device's memory is the only ceiling, and phones hit it sooner than laptops.
Do the split files lose quality?
No. Pages move into the new files without re-compression. A scanned page in the output is pixel-identical to the source.
How do multiple output files arrive?
As one zip, so you get a single download - with individual save buttons underneath if you only want some of them.
The file asks for a password - can I still split it?
Not while it's encrypted. Open it wherever it was made, save a copy without the password, and split the copy.
