Bulk send from a CSV
Send one template to a list of people in a single run. Download the signers file, fill one row per person, upload it, review and send.

Bulk send takes one published template and a list of people, and turns each row of that list into its own document. Everyone signs their own copy, and you watch the whole batch from a single page.
Who can do this
Available on Business and above. You need a template that is published and has at least one signer role, plus enough of your monthly document allowance left to cover the batch.
Send a batch from a CSV
-
Open Bulk sends and click New bulk send. A template's row menu has a Bulk send item that skips straight to step 3.
-
Pick a published template, then click Continue to signers.

-
Click Download template in the Bulk upload signers bar. You get an .xlsx file with the right headers already in row 1.
-
Fill one row per envelope and save the file.
-
Click Upload file and pick it. A .csv, .xlsx or .xls file up to 5 MB is accepted, though prefill mode takes Excel files only. Rows land in the table below, with blanks and duplicate signer emails skipped and reported.

-
Fix anything flagged in red, then click Continue to review.
-
Set the Subject and Message, check the Signing order and Expiry (days) in the panel on the right, and click Send followed by the envelope count.

CSV column names
Headers come from your template's roles, one pair each, in role order. The Prefill field values switch, ticked before you download, changes the shape of the file:
| Standard | Prefill field values | |
|---|---|---|
| Role columns | name_employee and email_employee, lower case with spaces turned into underscores | Employee Name and Employee Email |
| File types accepted | .csv, .xlsx or .xls, up to 5 MB | .xlsx or .xls only |
| Extra columns | None | One per data field on the template, with dropdowns built in for choice fields and YYYY-MM-DD for dates |
So a role labelled HR Manager gives you name_hr_manager and email_hr_manager in a standard file. Signer roles need both cells filled, CC roles tolerate blanks.
Anything you type in a prefill column is stamped onto that person's document and locked, so the signer can read it but not change it. Leave a cell blank and the signer fills it themselves.
After the bulk send
Sending lands you on the batch page, covered in track a bulk send, where a progress bar counts envelopes as they go out. Each document is named after the template with a number after it, and the batch keeps running if you close the tab. Recipients receive an ordinary signing request with no sign of the batch behind it.
You can stop partway. Save & exit in the wizard header stores the batch in your browser and pins it to the top of Bulk sends as a Draft, where Resume picks it back up.
If something goes wrong
- "Missing expected columns." The headers were edited or the wrong sheet was uploaded. Download the template again and paste your data under its row 1.
- Some rows were skipped. The upload message names the reason: duplicates of a signer email already in the table, or rows past the batch limit.
- Continue to review stays disabled. Every row still counts as needing a fix, or none are valid yet. The counter beside the button shows the split.
- The batch is too big for your allowance. A notice on the review step names how many documents are left this month, and the send button waits until the batch fits.
- A template is missing from the picker. Only published templates are listed. Open it from Templates and publish it.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly do the column headers have to say?
One pair per role, written as name_ and email_ followed by the role label in lower case with underscores instead of spaces. A role called Employee gives you name_employee and email_employee. Download the template rather than typing headers by hand and they will always match.
How many rows can one bulk send have?
Ten on Business. The table stops accepting rows at that point, the counter under it reads 10 of 10 max, and any extra rows in an uploaded file are skipped with a message saying so. Split a longer list across several runs.
Can I paste rows instead of uploading a file?
Yes, while prefill is switched off. Copy the cells out of your spreadsheet and paste into the first cell of the table. Tab-separated and comma-separated text both work, and the columns land in the same order as the table's headers.
What happens to rows with a missing or malformed email?
They are flagged before you can continue. A red summary lists each problem by row number and column, and clicking one jumps to that cell. Blank rows are ignored entirely, and two rows aimed at the same signer email are refused as duplicates.
Does every recipient get the same subject and message?
Yes. The review step has one subject and one message for the whole batch, prefilled from the template's own email defaults, and the same expiry and reminder settings apply to every envelope. If one person needs different wording, send to them separately rather than bending the batch around them.
