Template limits by plan

Free saves 3 templates and Growth saves 10, both counting archived ones. Business and Ultimate lift the count entirely and add the two features built on top of templates: bulk send and public links.

The numbers

Custom and managed plans are agreed deal by deal, so their figures come from the contract rather than this table. Check Settings > Billing for what your own workspace is on.

What counts as a template

Every template in the workspace counts once, whatever state it is in. A draft nobody else can even see still holds a slot, and so does an archived one, since archiving takes a template out of circulation rather than out of the count. Deleting is the only thing that gives a slot back.

The count is shared across the workspace rather than held per person, so three colleagues on a Free plan share the same three slots. When you try to save one more than your plan allows, the save is refused with a message naming the limit and a route to the upgrade page. Duplicating a template runs the same check, which is worth knowing if you are one slot from the ceiling.

Bulk send rows

One row is one envelope, so the row cap is really a cap on how many documents a single batch can create. Business allows 10 rows and Ultimate allows 25. Rows past the cap in an uploaded file are dropped, and the message under the upload bar tells you how many were skipped and why.

Two other limits sit underneath the row cap and matter more in practice:

• Your monthly document allowance. Every paid plan sends unlimited documents per month, so this only bites on Free, which does not include bulk send anyway.
• Your daily document allowance. Business allows 250 documents a day and Ultimate allows 500, counted across everything you send, batches included. A batch that crosses the line has its remaining rows marked Failed with the limit named, and retrying them the next day works.

Public links

Business and Ultimate both include public links, with no cap on how many you create. The controls that matter are per link rather than per plan:

• Max uses stops a link once that many documents have come from it. Anything from 1 to 100,000, or blank for unlimited. It cannot be set below the number already used.
• Expires closes a link at a date and time you choose, in the workspace timezone. The default is Never expires.
• Disable switches a link off while keeping its URL, and Reset link replaces the URL entirely.

Documents created through a link count against the same daily and monthly allowances as anything else you send. A workspace that runs out mid-month leaves visitors with a short "temporarily unavailable" notice, which is a good reason to watch the counters if you have a busy link on a page.

Embedding a link on your own site needs no extra plan, only Business or above plus the site listed under Settings > Developers > Embedding.

If something goes wrong

• "Need more templates?" You are at your plan's count. Delete an unused template, or move to Business for an unlimited count.
• Rows were skipped on upload. The file had more rows than your plan allows in one send. Split the list and run the batch twice.
• Bulk send or Create public link opens an upgrade panel. Nothing marks either button beforehand, so the first sign your plan does not include the feature is the small panel that opens on the click. It names the plan you need and leaves the page as it was.
• A batch stopped partway with a limit error. You hit the daily allowance. Wait for the day to roll over, then retry the failed rows from the batch page.
• Your numbers do not match this table. You are on a custom or managed plan. Settings > Billing shows the figures that actually apply, and support@documentesign.com can confirm them.
