Cancel your subscription

Cancel from the billing page, keep full access to the end of the period you paid for, and see what stays behind once the workspace moves to Free.

Updated Open in app

Cancel subscription sits next to your plan name on Settings > Billing. Cancel there and the plan runs to the end of the period you've already paid for, then the workspace moves to the Free plan with everything still in it.

Do it from this page, not from the payment provider's portal. A cancellation raised inside the portal can take effect on the spot, dropping the workspace to Free before the period you paid for has run out. The portal can also keep showing the old renewal date afterwards, which makes it look like the plan is still going.

Who can do this

Workspace admins. The button appears only when there's something live to cancel. A Free workspace, a plan we manage for you, and an older or lapsed subscription that's no longer running all show no button.

Cancel your subscription

  1. Open Settings > Billing.

  2. Click Cancel subscription beside your plan name. During a trial the same button reads Cancel trial.

  3. Read the summary at the top of the dialog. When something in the workspace goes beyond the Free limits it's listed there, item by item, under a line saying nothing is deleted automatically.

  4. Pick a reason. One of the six is required before the dialog will submit.

  5. Add anything useful in Anything else? (optional).

  6. Click Cancel subscription. Keep my subscription backs out with nothing changed.

What happens after you cancel

A toast names the end date. The billing page changes with it:

  • A Cancels at period end badge appears next to your plan name.
  • The line under the plan changes from Renews to Ends, on the same date.
  • A banner across the top of the billing page repeats the date and offers Reactivate.
  • Every workspace admin gets an email whose subject names the plan and says it's set to cancel.

Until that date, nothing about the workspace changes. Same features, same seats, same limits. No further charge is taken.

What your workspace keeps on Free

Documents, templates, folders, contacts and team members all stay exactly where they are. Free is one seat, three saved templates, 30 documents a month and 10 a day, so a workspace that was bigger than that ends up over the line. Nothing is emptied out.

Admins then see a red banner: "Your workspace is on the Free plan. Anything above the Free limits keeps working for now - upgrade to keep it in place." View what's affected opens the same item list the cancellation dialog showed you. That grace period runs for 30 days from the downgrade, with reminder emails along the way, and nothing is removed automatically. What does change is what you can start next. What happens when you hit a plan limit covers that.

Reactivate before the end date

Click Reactivate in the banner. The scheduled cancellation is cleared, the badge disappears, and the line under your plan reads Renews again. Nothing is charged for the reversal, and an email goes out confirming the plan will keep running. If you'd rather stay but pay less, switching to a smaller plan does that without cancelling.

Ending a trial instead

Both trials use the same Cancel trial button, and they finish in different ways.

On the card-free Business trial the dialog is headed End your Business trial? and the confirm button reads Switch to Free now. There's no paid period to run down, so the switch happens immediately.

On a trial you started with a card, the dialog reads Cancel your trial?, with Keep my trial and Cancel trial on the two buttons. That one is scheduled the way a paid cancellation is. The trial keeps running to its end date and no charge is taken when the date arrives.

If something goes wrong

  • No Cancel subscription button. You're on Free, you're not an admin, your plan is one we manage for you, or the subscription behind the workspace is an older or lapsed one with nothing live to cancel. Managed plans show Contact us about your plan instead.
  • The button disappeared after you cancelled. That's expected. The banner with Reactivate takes its place until the end date.
  • Cancel subscription in the dialog won't submit. No reason is selected yet. Pick one of the six.
  • Reactivate won't bring the plan back. The end date has already gone by, so there's nothing left to reverse. Pick a plan again from the billing page to start a new subscription.
  • You want to stop paying today, not at the period end. On a paid plan the app only schedules cancellations for the period end. Contact support if you need something else.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I lose access the moment I cancel?

No. Cancelling from the app always schedules the end for the last day of the period you've already paid for. Until that date the plan behaves exactly as before, with the same features, seats and limits. The badge next to your plan name reads Cancels at period end meanwhile.

Do I get a refund for the rest of the period?

You keep the rest of the period you already paid for, and access runs to the end date instead of stopping on the spot. That's the trade in place of a refund. If your situation needs something different, contact support before the end date and ask.

What happens to my documents and templates?

They stay. Nothing in the workspace is deleted when the plan ends, including documents, templates, folders, contacts and team members. Anything above the Free limits keeps working, and a banner tells admins exactly which items are over the line so nobody is guessing.

Can I undo a cancellation?

Yes, any time before the end date. Click Reactivate in the banner on the billing page and the scheduled cancellation is cleared, with no new charge. Once the date has passed there's nothing left to reactivate, and you pick a plan again to start fresh.

How do I end a trial instead?

The same button is labeled Cancel trial while a trial is running, but the two trials end differently. The card-free Business trial switches you to Free straight away. A trial you started with a card is scheduled instead, so it runs to its end date. You aren't charged either way.
