Update your billing address and GSTIN

Edit the legal name, address and tax id that appear on your invoices, and see what changes in the form when your billing country is India.

Updated Open in app

The details printed on your invoices come from the Billing address card on Settings > Billing. Edit the fields there, click Save address, and they apply to everything invoiced from that point on.

Who can do this

Workspace admins. The card sits above Recent invoices and shows up only once the workspace is on a paid plan, since a Free workspace has nothing to invoice. Managers and Members don't hold billing access at all.

Update your billing address

  1. Open Settings > Billing and scroll to Billing address.

  2. Set Country first. The fields below it change shape depending on what you pick.

  3. Put the name your business trades under in DBA.

  4. Fill Address Line 1, City, State / Region and Postal. Address Line 2 is the one optional field in the card.

  5. Click Save address. A Billing address saved toast confirms it.

Save address stays disabled until you actually change something. Validation messages are held back until your first save attempt, then they appear in red under the fields they belong to.

Add your GSTIN for India

Set Country to India and the card rearranges itself. DBA is relabeled Legal Name and wants your registered name. State / Region turns into a State dropdown of Indian states. Postal becomes PIN Code and has to be six digits. And a GSTIN field appears, marked optional, with the note "Leave blank if not applicable."

A GSTIN is exactly 15 characters in the standard format, like 22AAAAA0000A1Z5. Type it in any case you like, since the field upper-cases as you go. Anything that doesn't match the format is refused with "Enter a valid 15-character GSTIN". Leave it empty if your business isn't GST registered. Change the country away from India and save, and the stored number is cleared along with it.

What happens after you save

Your legal name plus Address Line 1, City, State, Postal and Country are passed to Dodo Payments, our payment provider, and appear on invoices raised from then on. Address Line 2 is the exception: the workspace stores it, but it's never sent on and never reaches an invoice. Put anything an invoice has to show on Line 1.

That handover only happens while a live card subscription is running. On a comped workspace, or one we invoice outside the app, the save is local until a subscription exists. An invoice that has already been issued keeps what it was issued with. Ask support if an old one needs correcting, and check any new row in Recent invoices to confirm the change landed.

Country is the field that carries the most weight. Plans are listed as one USD price worldwide, and the payment provider works out the currency you're charged in and the tax to add from the billing country you saved. That's also true when you move to a different plan.

If something goes wrong

  • No Billing address card on the page. It renders for admins on a paid plan only.
  • Save address stays greyed out. Nothing has changed yet. Edit any field and the button wakes up.
  • "Enter a valid 6-digit PIN code". Indian PIN codes are six digits and never start with a zero.
  • "Enter a valid 15-character GSTIN". Count the characters first. Fifteen exactly, no spaces.
  • "Required" under a field you left blank. Everything except Address Line 2 has to be filled in before the card saves.
  • The GSTIN field vanished. The country is no longer India. It's an India-only field.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is a GSTIN required?

No. The field only appears when your billing country is India, and it's marked optional with a note saying to leave it blank if it doesn't apply. Enter one if your business is GST registered. If you type something that isn't a valid 15-character number, the card refuses to save.

Why can I not see the Billing address card?

Only workspace admins hold billing access, so Managers and Members never see the card at all. It also appears only once the workspace is on a paid plan, since a Free workspace has no invoices for an address to sit on. Upgrade first and the card shows up.

Does my billing country change what I pay?

The list price is one USD figure worldwide, so the plan cost itself doesn't move. Country does decide the currency you are charged in and the tax added at checkout, both worked out by Dodo Payments, our payment provider. Put your real billing country in.

What is the DBA field for?

It's the name your business trades under, and it's what gets printed on the invoice. Set the country to India and the same field is relabeled Legal Name, because an Indian invoice is expected to carry the registered name rather than a trading name.

Can a Manager update the billing address?

No. Billing is admin-only in every workspace, so a Manager or Member can't open the card or save it. Ask an admin to make the change, or have one change your role first. The workspace activity log records who last edited the billing details.
