Change or upgrade your plan

Switch between Growth, Business and Ultimate, or between monthly and yearly billing, and see the prorated charge before you confirm it.

Updated Open in app

Plan changes happen straight away, not at the end of your billing period. Open Settings > Billing, click Change Plan, pick the plan you want, and confirm the prorated amount the dialog shows you.

Who can do this

Workspace admins, and only while the workspace has a live card subscription. If you're on Free or in the Business trial, there is nothing to prorate against and the app sends you to the checkout flow instead. Workspaces on a custom plan don't get these controls at all. A self-serve price would replace the agreement they already negotiated.

Change your plan

  1. Open Settings > Billing.

  2. Click Change Plan on the Current plan card.

  3. Pick Billed yearly or Billed monthly with the toggle above the cards. The page opens on your current cadence, so nothing flips by accident.

  4. Click the button on the plan you want. It reads Upgrade to Business going up the ladder and Switch to Growth coming back down. Your current plan shows a disabled Current plan button.

  5. Read the dialog. Charge today is the prorated difference, and the line under it tells you the date your renewal moves to.

  6. Click Confirm switch.

How proration works here

An upgrade is charged the moment you confirm it. You pay the difference between the two plans for the days left in your current period, and because that payment is taken now rather than at the next renewal, the billing date resets to today. The dialog says so plainly with a line reading Your next renewal moves to and the date.

A downgrade works the same way in reverse. It applies immediately and the unused time you already paid for on the bigger plan comes back as Credit on next invoice rather than a refund to your card.

Two exceptions, both spelled out in the dialog before you confirm:

  • You are on a trial with a card attached. There is no charge today. The new rate starts when the trial ends.
  • Your subscription is set to cancel. Switching plans cancels the cancellation. The dialog tells you that before you confirm, and your subscription carries on at the new plan.

Seats follow the switch. Every plan change re-counts the people actually in your workspace and bills for that number, so you never carry empty seats across from the old plan. There is more on that in add or remove seats.

Before you downgrade

When the plan you have picked is smaller than the one you're on, the dialog adds a Heads up block listing everything that goes beyond the target plan. It counts what's actually in your workspace: how many templates you have against how many the plan keeps, pending scheduled sends, active template share links, a custom sending domain, automatic cloud backup, and white-label branding switching off.

Nothing in that list is deleted. Those features stop working and the items sit there until you come back up a plan. Compare what you are giving up in the plan comparison before you confirm.

One thing does block the switch outright. If your workspace has more members than the target plan allows, the dialog refuses with a message naming both numbers and asks you to remove teammates first.

If something goes wrong

  • The dialog says a change is already on its way. A previous change is still being confirmed by your bank. Your current plan keeps working, and you can make another change once that one clears.
  • The dialog says it is waiting on your bank. Indian cards confirm this type of payment manually, which can take up to two working days. Leave it. The new plan switches on by itself and you have not been charged twice.
  • The price changed between opening the dialog and confirming. The confirm is refused rather than charging you a number you never saw. A fresh quote loads on its own; check it and confirm again.
  • Change Plan is missing from the billing page. Either your workspace has no live card subscription, or you're on a custom plan. Both cases are covered by the cards further down that page.
  • You wanted to move to Free. That is a cancellation rather than a plan change. Follow cancel your subscription.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When does a plan change take effect?

Immediately. The new plan and its features are live as soon as you confirm, not at the end of your billing period. That holds for a downgrade too, so a switch to a smaller plan takes effect the same minute and the unused time on the old one comes back as credit.

How is the prorated amount worked out?

You'll pay for the difference between the two plans across the days left in your current billing period, and the dialog shows that figure before you confirm. Because the charge is taken straight away, your renewal date moves with it, and the new date is printed under the amount.

What happens if I downgrade and I am over the new plan's limits?

The dialog lists what goes beyond the target plan before you confirm, such as extra templates, active share links or a custom sending domain. Those features switch off and the items stay in place but can't be added to. Too many teammates for the smaller plan blocks the switch entirely.

Can I move from monthly to yearly billing?

Yes. The same dialog has a Monthly and Yearly toggle, and yearly saves 25 percent on Growth and Business, 24 percent on Ultimate. Switching cadence is treated like any other change, so you pay the prorated difference today, the new rate applies from now on, and the renewal date moves to match.

Why does my plan change say it is waiting on my bank?

Cards issued in India settle this kind of charge by hand, which usually takes up to two working days. Your current plan keeps working the whole time, the new plan switches on by itself once the bank clears the payment, and you aren't charged twice.
