Preview branded signer emails
The Preview card at the bottom of the Branding page renders a real signature-request email with your logo, color and sender name, and redraws as you type.
Scroll to the bottom of Settings > Branding. The Preview card draws a real signature-request email using your logo, your brand color and your sender name, and it redraws the moment you edit either field. Nothing is sent while you're doing it.
Who can do this
Workspace admins, on every plan. The Branding tab is hidden from managers and members, and so is the preview that lives on it.
Preview your branded signer email
-
Open Settings > Branding and scroll past Logo & icon and Brand color & sender name.
-
Read the Preview card. This is the signature-request email as your recipients receive it.

-
Change something above it. Type a different hex into Brand color, or put a new value in Email from-name, and watch the card update as you type.

-
Click Save branding once the preview looks right. The card reflects unsaved edits too, so what you're looking at isn't necessarily live yet.
What the preview actually shows
Three parts of the card are yours:
- The header image is your uploaded logo, drawn 40 pixels tall and no wider than 280. With no logo saved you get the Document eSign lockup instead, and under white-label you get your workspace name set in your brand color.
- The Review & sign button takes your brand color.
- The opening line reads "[sender name] has requested your signature on Service agreement.pdf", where the sender name is your Email from-name.
Everything else in the card is fixed:
- The greeting, the recipient name Alex and the document title Service agreement.pdf are sample values. No signer ever sees them.
- The consent line under the button is the standard electronic-signature notice.
- The "Powered by Document eSign" credit sits outside the white card. It stays there until an Ultimate workspace turns White-label mode on.
What the preview does not cover
The card is the signature request and nothing else, so don't read it as a check on the rest of your mail. Reminders, completion notices, declines, cancellations and expiry warnings all use the same shell but different wording, and none of them appear here. If you need to see or change those, they live in email template customization, which gives each one its own live preview plus a Send test button that mails a real copy to an address you choose. That is a Business feature.
The preview also stops at the envelope. It won't tell you which address the mail arrives from, so a workspace that has verified its own sending address will not see that reflected here.
If something goes wrong
- The preview is blank. The whole page shows a loading block while it fetches your workspace record. Give it a second rather than reloading.
- The color in the preview is not the one you picked. The card takes whatever sits in the hex field, character for character. A half-typed value renders as the wrong color, or drops the button fill altogether. Finish all six digits.
- Your logo looks stretched. The header keeps your file's aspect ratio inside that 40 by 280 pixel box. A tall, narrow logo stays tall and narrow. Crop the whitespace out and upload it again from the Branding page.
- The preview updated but your signers did not see the change. Nothing was saved. Save branding stays disabled until the color or the from-name differs from the stored value. That's a quick way to tell whether an edit registered.
Frequently asked questions
Does the preview send anything to anyone?
No. It is drawn in your browser from the values on screen, so nobody receives mail while you experiment. If you want a real message in a real inbox, the Send test button on the email template customization page mails a live copy to whichever address you type.
Why does the preview say Alex and Service agreement.pdf?
Those are fixed sample values standing in for a recipient name and a document title. They never reach a signer. Only the parts you control on the Branding page change in the preview, which are the logo, the accent color and the sender name in the opening line.
Can I preview the reminder or completion email here?
No. This card always draws the signature request. The other six emails, including reminders, completions, declines, cancellations and expiries, each get their own live preview inside email template customization, which is a Business feature and lives on a separate page under Advanced features.
The preview shows my logo, so why did my signer see the default one?
The preview always draws whatever is uploaded, which is deliberate. Check that the logo actually saved, then send yourself a real copy. A signer looking at an old email in their inbox also sees the branding that was live when it was sent, not what you changed afterwards.
What is the Powered by Document eSign line under the preview?
A quiet one-line credit that sits under the email body. Every plan carries it, Ultimate included. It only goes away when an Ultimate workspace switches White-label mode on. It sits outside the white card that holds your greeting and button, so it is never part of the message itself.

Add your logo and brand color
Upload a logo and an icon, pick a brand color, and set the name your signers see in their inbox. Every plan gets it; only Ultimate can remove the Document eSign footprint.
