Manage your saved signatures

Add signatures, initials and stamps to your account, mark one of each as the default, and delete the ones you no longer want.

Updated Open in app

Everything you have saved to sign with lives in the Saved signatures card at Settings > Profile. Add as many signatures, initials and stamps as you like there, and mark one of each kind as the default so it drops straight into a field when you sign.

Add a signature, initials or a stamp

  1. Open Settings > Profile and scroll to Saved signatures.

The Saved signatures card on the Profile page with three add buttons

  2. Click Signature, Initials or Stamp in the top right of the card.

  3. Create the item. Signatures and initials can be drawn with a mouse or finger, typed and styled with a script font, or uploaded as an image. Stamps take an uploaded image only, and they fill the Stamp tile described in field types.

The Add signature dialog opened from the Profile page

  4. Click Save.

Your first saved item of each kind becomes the default on its own, so a brand new account is one click from signing. Draw, type or upload a signature walks through the three ways to create one.

Change which one is the default

Click Make default on any card that does not already carry the Default badge. A short toast reads Default updated and the badge moves across. Defaults are held per kind, so a new default signature leaves your initials and your stamp exactly where they were. Setting your default signature and initials goes through it in full.

Delete one you no longer want

Click Delete, the bin icon on the card, then confirm. Deleting the item that held the badge promotes the newest remaining one of the same kind, so you rarely end up with no default at all. Removing your last item of a kind leaves that kind empty until you add another.

Deleting a signature has no effect on documents already signed with it. Those PDFs are sealed and keep the image that was applied at signing time.

How saved items are used when you sign

Open a signature, initials or stamp field while signed in and the window lands on the saved tab with your default already selected. Fields only offer saved items of their own kind, so an initials field never shows your full signature. Reusing a saved signature covers the rest.

If something goes wrong

  • The upload is refused. Check the file is a PNG, JPG or WebP under 2 MB. Other formats are rejected before anything is stored.
  • No Make default button on a card. That card already holds the badge.
  • Your signature looks faint on the document. Thin pen strokes shrink badly into a small field. Redraw it thicker, or upload a higher-contrast image.
  • A stamp field will not let you sign. No stamp is saved on your account yet. Add one from this card, then reopen the field.
  • A saved signature from another browser is missing. Items added from this card follow your account everywhere. A signature drawn while signing, and never saved here, stays on that one browser.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many signatures can I save?

As many as you want. There is no cap on saved signatures, initials or stamps, and none of them count towards your plan limits. Only one of each kind can hold the Default badge at a time, so a long list stays usable when you sign.

Can other people in my workspace see my signatures?

No. A saved signature belongs to your user account, not to the workspace, so no teammate and no admin can view it or apply it to a document on your behalf. If you belong to more than one workspace, the same saved items follow you into each of them.

What happens if I delete the one marked Default?

Another saved item of that same kind takes over the badge automatically, and the most recently added one wins. Delete your last signature and there is no default left, so the signing window opens on the drawing tab until you create a new one.

Why is the Stamp option upload-only?

A stamp is usually a company seal, a notary mark or a scanned graphic, none of which you can draw convincingly with a mouse. So the stamp dialog takes an image file rather than offering the draw and type tabs that signatures and initials get.

What image format should I upload?

PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 2 MB. A dark mark on a white or transparent background reproduces best, because the image is placed on the page exactly as supplied. Crop out the surrounding paper before you upload, otherwise the white border shows on the document.
