Getting started

Sign in and reset your password

Sign in with email and password, Google or Microsoft, get past the two-factor prompt, and reset a forgotten password with a link that works for one hour.

Updated Open in app

Go to the sign-in page, enter your Email and Password and click Sign in, or use Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft. If you have forgotten your password, click Forgot password? and we email a reset link that works for one hour.

  1. Open the sign-in page.

  2. Click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft if you signed up that way, and you are done.

  3. Otherwise type your Email and Password and click Sign in.

You land on the dashboard, or on the page you were trying to open before the session ended.

The two-factor prompt

If two-factor authentication is on for your account, sign-in stops at a Two-factor check screen. Open your authenticator app, type the 6-digit code into Code and click Verify and sign in. Lost the phone? Click Use a recovery code instead and enter one of your saved backup codes. Each one works once.

This prompt is tied to the sign-in you started a moment ago. Refreshing the page or waiting more than a few minutes sends you back to the sign-in form to start again. To turn two-factor on, see Set up two-factor authentication.

Reset a forgotten password

  1. On the sign-in page click Forgot password?.

  2. Enter your account email and click Send reset link.

  3. Open the email and follow the link. It is valid for one hour.

  4. On Set a new password enter New password and Confirm, then click Save new password. The password rule is the same as at sign-up: at least 8 characters with one letter and one digit.

  5. You are returned to the sign-in page with a "Your password has been updated" notice. Sign in with the new password.

The confirmation screen says "If an account exists for this email" on purpose. It reads the same whether or not the address is registered, so nobody can use the form to check which emails have accounts.

Already signed in and only want a different password? Use Change your password under Settings instead of the reset flow.

If something goes wrong

  • "The email or password you entered is incorrect." Check for a typo and caps lock. Five wrong tries in a row lock the account for 15 minutes. The message does not change during the lock, so wait or reset the password.
  • No reset email. Check spam, and confirm you used the address on the account, not an alias. Requesting again cancels the earlier link.
  • "This reset link is invalid or has expired." Links last one hour and work once. Request a new one.
  • "That code didn't match." Authenticator codes rotate every 30 seconds. Wait for the next one, retype it, and make sure the phone's clock is set automatically rather than by hand.
  • Still waiting on the confirmation code from sign-up? That Check your email screen only appears once, right after you create the account. If you closed it, sign in with the email and password you chose. The sign-in form never asks for the code.
  • "You cancelled the sign-in." You closed the Google or Microsoft consent screen partway through. Go again, or fall back to the email form.
  • Google or Microsoft says it cannot confirm the email. The provider could not verify the address and an account already exists for it. Sign in with your password.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long is the password reset link valid?

One hour from the moment you request it. If you open it later you see "This reset link is invalid or has expired. Request a new one." Go back to the sign-in page, click Forgot password?, and send a fresh link. Only the newest link works; older ones are cancelled.

Why does the page say the email or password is incorrect when I am sure they are right?

After five wrong passwords in a row the account is locked for 15 minutes, and the sign-in form shows the same "incorrect" message during the lock. Wait 15 minutes and try again, or reset your password. A successful reset clears the lock straight away.

I lost my phone and cannot get the two-factor code. Can I still sign in?

Yes, with a recovery code. On the Two-factor check screen click Use a recovery code instead and enter one of the ten codes you were given when you turned on two-factor authentication. Each recovery code works once, so cross it off after use. If none are left, ask a workspace admin for help.

Why do I see "Your session ended. Sign in to continue."?

Your session expired, or a password change or admin sign-out ended it. Nothing is wrong with your account and nothing you have sent is affected. Sign in again and you land where you were, on the exact page you had open when the prompt appeared.

Can I use Google to sign in if I created my account with a password?

Yes, as long as Google confirms it owns the same email address as your account. You are then signed in to the existing account and can keep using either method. If Google cannot confirm the address, the page asks you to sign in with your password instead.
